This grand old building is steeped in history and has stood on the corner of Queen St and Edward St since its construction in the 1930’s. Originally destined to be the Brisbane Base for AMP, it’s path changed with the commencement of World War II. The US General, Macarthur, came to Brisbane and chose Brisbane’s largest office building of the time as his base. From here he took command of the war effort in Papua New Guinea and the Pacific, halting Japanese attempts of invading Australia.
